Most people think that governmental agencies ensure that our water’s clean. And while the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established the Clean Water Act to safeguard our water supply, it only set standards and testing requirements in our municipal water treatment facilities for 114 different contaminants out of literally hundreds more.

In fact, the Environmental Working Group obtained test results from a database of over 20 million records from state water officials to determine the quality of drinking water in 45 states. The results revealed 316 contaminants were present in our water supplies. Among them were 202 chemicals that aren’t regulated by any safe water standards.i

So yes, your water looks clean. But really, it’s not.

Why Filtration?

The simple answer? You either use a filter or you are the filter.

Only 2% of all treated water is used for drinking water. The rest is used on your lawn, shower, laundry, or used for farms or industry. It’s simply too time-consuming and expensive to test and remove the thousands of chemicals that may be present in any particular water source.

Just how Toxic is Your World?

There are many sources of toxins in our busy industrial world.  From automobiles to the food we eat, toxins are in our word.  Yes, I said the food we eat.  Farmers are using more and more pesticides, herbicides and GMO plants.  The pesticides and herbicides linger in the food and ground water, making there way into our bodies on a daily basis.  People are having allergic reactions to foods now due to the GMO process.  The combining of genes from one plant to another is creating new allergies and sensitivities that have not existed before.

Water, air, plastics, cosmetics, building materials, fabrics, detergents and fabric softeners, household cleaners, carpets, personal care items and air fresheners are just a partial list of possible chemical pollutants that we encounter each day.  Also, we need to remember the prescription drugs we take along with over the counter medications that we take.  All have ingredients that our bodies have to filter and discard.  And each time you eat food from a plastic container, you ingest chemical pollutants.

Now when we eat our food, let’s not forget items like food coloring, artificial flavorings, processed flours and sugars, preservatives, stabilizers and more.  So I think the message here is to eat as much organic foods as possible, avoid processed foods and filter your water.

Using as many natural, organic products as well as cooking with glass if you use a microwave will help us have a healthier life.  Many toxins can be avoided if we change to natural cleaners for the house and laundry.  Clothing and bedding washed in toxic detergents are major sources of toxins since our skin in the largest organ of our body.
