How does Shaklee’s Performance Perform?

Shaklee’s Performance Hydration drink has long been used by elite athletes to help with their performances during training and competition. According to Dr Stephen Chaney, dehydration is the Number 1 problem in vigorous exercise and endurance activities.  Studies show that a body can lose 5 to 6 cups of fluid while exercising in less than half an hour.  That amount of fluid loss can lead to poor performance and even physical ailments.

Drinking water alone will not replace the electrolytes, protein and carbohydrates needed to keep an elite athlete at the prime.   Keeping your energy at maximum output during competition is the goal of all athletes whether an elite Olympic competitor or the weekend golfer.

Shaklee Performance® is clinically proven to hydrate better than water. Plus, Performance has more electrolytes and provides more energy than the leading hydration drink. Our proprietary OPTI-LYTE™ electrolyte blend plus our unique mix of carbohydrates delivers instant and sustained energy and supports optimal hydration.  Performance is part of a Trio of Sports Nutrition Products:
Clinically Proven
Minimizes fluid loss for enhanced hydration
Maintains blood-glucose levels to sustain intense energy output and to increase stamina
Increases endurance for better athletic performance
No artificial flavors, sweeteners or added preservatives.

In a study published in the Journal of Urological Research in 2009,  Shaklee’s Performance was tested against Gatorade.  It was a study independent of the Shaklee Corporation.  The conclusion states:  “Ingestion of Performance, but not Gatorade, led to an increase in mean urinary citrate excretion and pH as compared to water. The increase in citrate is likely to be a clinically significant effect. pH is an important determinant of alkali load in beverages containing organic anions. Performance, with more citrate and a higher pH than Gatorade, could represent a superior alternative to water for reducing urinary lithogenicity.”   The researchers concluded that Shaklee’s Performance was superior to either Gatorade or water alone at deceasing the risk of Kidney Stone Formation.

Now that is important to me since many of my family members and friends as well suffer from Kidney Stones!  So if keeping hydrated by using Shaklee’s Performance has an extra benefit, then so much the better!  Shaklee’s Performance does perform well and out-performs Gatorade and other sports drinks.  You will enjoy the two options, Lemon-Lime or Orange.  Both mix well with water and I sometimes add a packet of Cinch Tea.  Yummy!  Enjoy and stay well.

A New House Every 7 Years!

How would you like  a new house every 7 years?  Wow, that would be a great perk wouldn’t it?  Imagine getting a new home every 7 years, all fresh and clean.  It would be a dream come true for so many.  But there is a catch to this dream.

The catch is that the new home is only as nice as the way you have kept the current one you have.  So if your plumping is bad in your old home, the new house will also have bad plumbing.  If you have upgraded the heating and cooling systems in the old house then the new house will have new, upgraded heating and cooling systems!  So the trick is to keep your current home in the best possible condition so that when you get the new home every 7 years, it is the best it can be!

Not a bad deal now is it?  Keep your current home in great condition in order to get a new home in the same condition!  New home with a new “start” date.  You would not want a new home that was not in perfect condition would you?  I don’t want a new home that is not in the best condition possible.

However,  we all have a home that we don’t treat as well as we can.  We all live in a home that is replaced every 7 years and we don’t even think about how we really take care of it most of the time.  That home is our body, our only true home.  And since our cells renew frequently, we get a “new body” about every 7 years!  Wow, think how nice it would be to take care of our current body so that our new body will be healthy and ready to take us into next phase of our lives, healthy and ready to go!

So how do we accomplish this healthy new home?  Well, it takes work and planning.  I know, work is not “fun” but healthy bodies are fun!  Working on your body can be easier than you think.   Thinking about what you eat, how you exercise and how you supplement your diet.  Three easy things to do,  lifestyle choices that reflect healthier choices will pay dividends for years to come.  Be diligent now will avoid many illness later.  And that new body you get every 7 years will be ready to work for you for 7 more healthy years!

So get off the couch and walk the dogs, play with the kids, walk around the block, take the stairs instead of the elevator, park further away from the building, move!  Then look at your food choices.  Drink lots off filtered fresh water, eat organic foods (no artificial, processed foods), and keep add soy protein to your daily meals.

Then look at the absences in your nutrition and add whole food supplements, natural & organic supplements to fill in the nutrition gaps.  Supplementing your nutritional gaps is necessary since no one eats every nutrient their body needs.    So carefully add whole food nutrients to your daily routine to fill in the blanks in your nutritional gaps.  That way your new “body” will be healthy and ready to give you a healthy life!

A New Way to Think about Supplementation

As you know from my many posts, I take Shaklee Supplements each day.  I have been doing this since 2004.  The many benefits of proper supplementation with whole health supplements have been everything from good cholesterol to no more sinus infections to more energy and focus each day.

When I speak with others about adding Alfalfa to their daily regime to lower their inflammation and help their sinus problems, they often start grumbling about taking 10 little tablets! 10 little tablets, not 10 giant horse pills, little tablets to help you breathe better and feel better.  Sigh….

But today I heard an interesting explanation of why we need to supplement with vitamins.  I heard a gentlemen say that since the body needs certain nutrients that we often don’t get in our food, we need to take supplements as well as seek high quality sources of our daily food.  His reasoning was that our cells are constantly renewing themselves.  If we don’t have the proper nutrients for the cells to reproduce correctly, we will begin to get bad cells reproducing!  Disease will follow and old age will accelerate.  So in his mind, taking good supplements only made sense!

And he is a very young looking and young acting Senior!  So follow his advise if not mine and supplement with good nutrition such as my Shaklee products, eat organic local produce and exercise frequently!  Stay well and healthy.
