The Standard American Diet (S.A.D.) is creating a vast array of health challenges. Latest research has an almost unbelievable statistic: the United States ranks 37th in longevity behind countries such as Cuba, Chile, Costa Rica, and Greece! And that is despite all of the sophisticated medical technology and pharmaceutical innovations available today.

Americans are Overfed and Undernourished

Fact: 2,000% increase in fast food sales since 1976

Fact: 33% of our total calories come from fast food

Fact: Only 2% of us get the recommended amount of fruits and vegetable

Fact: Top vegetables eaten? Ketchup, French Fries and iceberg lettuce

Fact: Up to 38% decline in nutrient content of garden crops during the past 50 years

Fact: 90% of Americans are lacking key nutrients in their diets

The obesity epidemic, which sadly affects even our children, is the outcome of our S.A.D. The American Academy of Pediatrics issued a statement recently that suggests, unless current trends reverse, one-third of all children born today can expect a shorter life than their parents due t type 2 diabetes.

Compromising convenience for nutrition, our busy lifestyle leads us to have little regard for what we eat or how much we eat. While there are good healthy choices in the marketplace, many products that are touted as "healthy" are hiding sugars, fat and a long list of artificial ingredients. The labeling on products makes it difficult to maneuver. The picture on the front is often a misleading image, along with words like "healthy" and "natural". Reading labels takes time and we often make food purchases based on the pictures not the labels!

The increase in Fast Food sales over the past 30 years has been a major contributor to being overfed and undernourished. With a nearly 2,000% rises in sales, we are eating more 1/3 of our calories from fast food, but are not getting a responding nutritional boost. Fast food tends to be high in fat and carbohydrates, but there is a lack of good nutrition in the foods.

Current research is finding a link between these high-fat, high carbohydrate fast foods with lots of calories and acute inflammation. It seems that consuming these high-fat, high-calorie meals regularly may lead to chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation has been linked to diseases such as heart disease, certain cancers, arthritis, diabetes and Alzheimer's disease.

As one publication put it: -->Our foods are fast and our metabolisms are slow -->Our drinks are soft and our arteries are hard -->Our nerves are fried, and so is the junk we put into our bodies

The proven benefits of nutritional supplementation. The good news is that the very latest research suggests you can positively influence your health every day through the lifestyle changes you make and through the quality of your nutritional intake.

RECENT GROUNDBREAKING LANDMARK STUDY CORRELATES LONG-TERM SUPPLEMENT USE WITH BETTER OVERALL HEALTH A recent groundbreaking study of people who took a wide range of high-quality nutritional supplements for 20 years or more showed dramatic benefits compared to those who took just a multivitamin or no supplement at all. These long-term supplement users were 73% less likely to have diabetes, 39% less likely to have high blood pressure, and were nearly four times more likely to describe their health as “very good” or “excellent” compared to nonusers. In other words, consuming a wide variety of high-quality supplements is associated with better health and reduced risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and more.
